Comprehension Instruction
Research-based exemplary practices help students acquire strong reading
comprehension skills based on reading comprehension instruction and vocabulary
development.

monitor their own comprehension.

instructional strategies and examples of student work are embedded in each

Beginning
Reading Instruction
This course is intended for
primary teachers or teachers working with beginning-level readers. Through both
theoretical and practical application, participants learn strategies necessary
for constructing a comprehensive reading program. Strategies, skills, and
activities are developed around phonemic awareness, phonics, concepts about
print, and authentic reading to ensure literacy development.
